How to Remove the “Made with AI” Label on Instagram

Instagram tags your AI posts as Made with AI and adds an AI info disclosure. Here's how to clean your own files on iPhone before posting — zero quality loss.

You post a polished AI image and Instagram slaps a “Made with AI” label on it, with an “AI info” panel one tap away. For a lot of creators that disclosure changes how the post is received — and how confidently the algorithm pushes it.

The label is automatic. Tools like Midjourney, DALL·E, Sora and Runway export files carrying C2PA content credentials and other AI signal patterns. Instagram reads them on upload and applies its AI content disclosure — regardless of how much of the creative work was actually yours.

CleanAi removes those signals from your own files. It re-encodes the photo or video natively on your iPhone so the export reads like a fresh capture — same resolution, same bitrate, no AI fingerprints. Here's how.

Remove the “Made with AI” label in 5 steps

1

Download CleanAi

Get CleanAi from the App Store. Free to start — no account, no sign-up.

2

Tap “Clean a photo or video”

Open the app and choose what you're about to post — a feed image, a Reel, or a Story clip.

3

Pick the file from your library

Select your AI photo or video. Nothing is uploaded — it never leaves your iPhone.

4

Crop or trim (optional)

Adjust the framing or trim the clip. A crop also removes any visible ✦ AI marker in a corner.

5

Tap Clean, save, and post

CleanAi re-encodes the file natively, saves it to your camera roll, and you post to Instagram as usual.

Feed, Reels and Stories

Instagram scans every surface the same way. Clean the file before it goes up, wherever it's headed. New to the tag? Read how the “Made with AI” label works.

Feed posts

Single images and carousels are checked on upload. Clean each photo before you add it to the post so none of them trigger the AI info tag.

Reels

Reels go through the same detection as feed video. Clean the exported clip before uploading — including any AI b-roll you stitched in.

Stories

Stories are scanned too, even though they disappear in 24 hours. Clean the photo or video first if you don't want the “Made with AI” chip on it.

Why a native re-encode works

The “Made with AI” label isn't based on how a post looks — it's based on what's written inside the file. The main signal is C2PA, an industry metadata standard AI tools use to sign their output as “made by AI”. Alongside it sit subtler signal patterns — encoding quirks and metadata fields that detectors tie to synthetic media.

CleanAi runs your file through Apple's CoreImage and AVFoundation pipelines and re-encodes it from scratch using native iPhone export presets. The C2PA record and leftover signal patterns don't survive that pass. What comes out reads, to Instagram's detector, like media captured on the device — so there's nothing left to trigger the AI info disclosure on your own work.

Does cropping remove the label?

Not by itself. Cropping changes the pixels and can remove a visible corner marker, but the embedded C2PA record and signal patterns stay in the file — and that's what Instagram reads. A screenshot or re-save usually leaves the disclosure in place while degrading quality. The re-encode is the part that clears the fingerprints; CleanAi does both in one tap.

Instagram “Made with AI” label — FAQ

Why does Instagram add a "Made with AI" label to my post?

Instagram reads C2PA content credentials and AI signal patterns embedded in your file on upload. When it detects them it shows the “Made with AI” label and surfaces an “AI info” panel — its built-in AI content disclosure — even on your own original work.

What is the "AI info" panel?

It's the disclosure Instagram attaches to flagged posts. Tapping the “Made with AI” label opens an “AI info” sheet explaining the content was detected as AI-generated. Cleaning the file before posting means there's nothing for Instagram to disclose.

Does this work for Reels and Stories too?

Yes. Feed posts, Reels and Stories are all scanned the same way. Clean the file before you upload it to any of them.

Will my photo or video lose quality?

No. CleanAi exports through Apple's native CoreImage and AVFoundation presets, keeping resolution and bitrate intact. The result is pixel-for-pixel the same quality as the source.

Do my files leave my iPhone?

Never. Everything runs on-device — no cloud upload, no account, no servers touching your media.

Is removing the label against Instagram's rules?

CleanAi only cleans files you own, on your own device. It does not connect to Instagram, automate anything, or touch anyone else's content. You stay responsible for posting media you have the right to share.
